Trout Rock Wilderness Lodge

Situated on the North Arm of Great Slave Lake, the lodge is positioned amidst an archipelago of rocky islands and sheltered fishing waters. Conveniently close to Yellowknife, transit time by bush plane to the lodge is a short 12 minutes – allowing you maximum fishing time! The lodge has a reputation for “monster pike” and anglers arriving with high expectations are rarely disappointed – average trophy fish size is over one metre! The fishing guides (ratio one guide / two guests) are from the Dene First Nations; born and raised on Great Slave Lake – and no one knows the local fishing better. Al l guides are trained in wilderness first aid and CPR. A daily highlight at Trout Rock is the shore lunch; fresh filets cooked by the guides over a blazing campfire.

Over 480 km long, Great Slave Lake is a haven for fishing enthusiasts. With thousands of uninhabited islands, shallow, weedy bays, an abundance of fish, catch and release policy – it’s no surprise that Trout Rock is popular with anglers. This is real sport fishing; the pike are fighters and in the cold waters they stalk their prey and the attack is ferocious. The region is home to bald eagles, waterfowl and a variety of wildlife; bear, otters, beaver and mink are sometimes spotted. Long summer days provide ample hours for anglers and nature lovers – after dinner you can fish after midnight. Boats are 16-18ft aluminum with powerful motors, well suited for fishing along the rocky shoreline. Trout Rock Lodge has comfortable accommodation in private cabins. Home cooked meals are served in a pleasant dining room with licensed lounge. The hot tub is popular after a day’s fishing
